Lisa and Jim Dolan’s weekly podcast, Life According to Lisa (and Jim too!), was featured in the Oceanside Herald. What began as everyday conversations about books, television, pop culture, memories, and Lisa’s novel, THE BROOKLYN WITCH: The Battle for Brooklyn, has grown into a weekly podcast recorded at the Oceanside Library and shared on Spotify, YouTube, and their website.

Couple Turns Everyday Conversations into Podcast

We are so excited to share that Life According to Lisa (and Jim too!) was recently featured in the Oceanside Herald.

The article shares the story of how our everyday conversations, 24 years of marriage, and love of storytelling and pop culture grew into a weekly podcast. What started as the two of us talking about television, movies, books, Brooklyn memories, family stories, food, and all the little things that make life interesting has become something we look forward to creating every week.

On the podcast, we talk about everything from Lisa’s novel, THE BROOKLYN WITCH: The Battle for Brooklyn, to classic television, movies, books, pop culture, nostalgia, and the way certain stories stay with us. Each week, we choose a new topic and take a deeper look at it, mixing our own memories with the larger conversations those stories inspire.

The heart of the podcast is simple: we want listeners to feel like they are sitting with us, joining the conversation, and having fun. Some episodes are funny, some are thoughtful, and some take us in directions we never expected. That is part of the joy of it.

We record Life According to Lisa (and Jim too!) at the Oceanside Library and share episodes on Spotify, YouTube, and our website. We are also working on expanding the show with a video setup so we can bring guests into the conversation through Zoom. We have already booked a few guests, but we are keeping those names under wraps for now.

When we first began, we thought the podcast would be a way to talk about our books and creative projects. Over time, it has grown into a general-interest podcast about stories, culture, memory, marriage, and the things people love to talk about.
